About the Gold Star Garden
In the heart of the Southwest Florida community reside numerous Gold Star Families, each with a story of sacrifice and resilience. Within this spirit of honor and remembrance, the founder established the Gold Star Family Garden as a tribute dedicated to recognizing and honoring these families and their fallen loved ones.
The garden showcases local heroes' contributions and enduring dedication and sacrifice.
Understanding and acknowledging these brave men and womens' stories ensures we never forget their unwavering commitment to our community and nation. Through this act of remembrance, we will continue their legacy, ensuring that these men and women and their families will always hold a place in the hearts and minds of the Southwest Florida community.
How the Garden Was Built
Large eastern gray granite pieces were cut at an angle on each edge so that they would be able to form the star shaped border of the Gold Star Family Garden.
The pieces were then transported over to the garden location, placed in the shape of the star, and sealed.
Five cast bronze emblems representing five branches of the military (Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and Air Force) were each affixed to the five points on the star.
Gold Star Mothers from the community helped spread mulch and plant the Lantana flowers.
The Gold Star Family Garden sign was installed complete with a QR code so that guests are able to view more information on the website.
